UNIROB turnkey packaging line for packing small parts

UNIROB turnkey packaging line for packing small parts

R.WEISS has positioned itself for years as an experienced general contractor in the automation and packaging industry. Currently, R.WEISS is implementing a UNIROB turnkey packaging line for a well-known manufacturer of fastening technology. The materials to be packed as bulk goods in folding boxes are small metal or plastic parts. Since the operator of the packaging line attaches importance to very high accuracy during filling, R.WEISS uses a multihead weigher of a market leader for this filling technology as an important component of the packaging line.

The UNIROB turnkey packaging line, which covers all steps of the packaging process, includes a UNIROB erecting module, which erects the folding boxes from the flat blanks by means of hot glue, the aforementioned multihead weigher, a continuous checkweigher, a labeling unit and a UNIROB capper module. After erection, the folding boxes are fed to the multi-head weigher in two lanes and filled. The filled folding boxes are then transported to the UNIROB closer module, where they are closed by a six-axis robot. The six-axis robot technology and the robot tool, which can be changed over very easily to all formats, enable very precise right-angled and positive closure of the lid flaps. As a final process, self-adhesive labels are applied to the folding boxes before they are transported on an outfeed conveyor for further packaging.

It was important to the customer to obtain a complete solution for the packaging line to be procured, i.e. a turnkey packaging line, from a single source. Due to the competence developed over decades as a turnkey supplier, the choice therefore quickly fell on R.WEISS. On the one hand, R.WEISS has the experience in selecting and integrating the line modules best suited for the task and, on the other hand, also the required know-how in the central topic of interface definition and implementation. Already at the beginning of the project planning phase, regular coordination meetings with all involved sub-suppliers took place under the leadership of R.WEISS. Thanks to this approach and the open and transparent communication, all important technical details and milestones could be clarified and defined right from the start. As the contractor for the turnkey packaging line and as the client for the sub-suppliers, it was important for R.WEISS to work together in a fair and cooperative manner. These partnerships with the sub-suppliers have usually also grown over the years, creating a "triple-win situation", so to speak, for all three parties involved. Of course, this should also continue after the installation and commissioning of the systems at the end customer. Here, too, R.WEISS acts as the contact partner with overall responsibility upon request and coordinates the inspection and maintenance intervals for all components integrated in the turnkey packaging line. Thus, all basic conditions for a successful implementation have been created. The interested reader may look forward to the follow-up report on the successful realization of the project. Of course, we are also pleased if we have aroused interest in similar tasks.
