"Packaging 2020" – Packaging Valley Days 2013
Packaging Practices of Tomorrow - Some impulses and a look behind the scenes
Schwaebisch Hall. The Cluster Packaging Valley Germany e.V. cordially invites you to the 2nd "Packaging Valley Days". The conference provides insights into the packaging world of the future: How do intelligent packaging and packaging machines work together? What expectations are involved here? What is the mechanical engineering industry doing to provide optimum solutions for its customers?
Experts from practice-related science together with technicians already in industry place their knowledge and skills at your disposal for new perspectives. The two-day international conference takes place on 10th and 11th April 2013 in Schwaebisch Hall. Qualified simultaneous interpreters are at your side throughout the event where, as two years ago, we expect visitors from all over the world. Various factory tours are also included in the program.
"Packaging 2020" – this is the motto under which the speakers Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Wahlster and Stefan Brünner deal with the theme of packaging practice in the near future. Here the packs set the rhythm: "Industry 4.0: Digital product memories for intelligent packaging in the Smart Factory" is the title of the stimulating talk by Wolfgang Wahlster, the technical-scientific Manager at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI). In the international world of science, the DFKI is deemed to be one of the most important centers of excellence worldwide, where top research is rapidly implemented with great success to practice related applications. In the view of Stefan Brünner (Works Manager Procter & Gamble Manufacturing, Crailsheim), intelligent packaging belongs to the future. In his talk he expresses this as "the challenges of intelligent packaging based on the example of the consumer goods industry".
New opportunites and potential is given by plasma technology, dealt with here as a second theme focus. In his talk entitled "Plasma from the basics to the application oriented research", Dr. Jörg Ihde (Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials IFAM) provides insights into this field of technology whose value today is still not completely utilized but which nevertheless offers many advantages in practice. The contribution by Mr. Joachim Schüssler (Plasmatreat GmbH) will confirm this as he reports on "Industrial applications of atmospheric plasma in the packaging industry".
After the Packaging Valley Days conference, the participants can choose from a number of simultaneously interpreted workshops presented, including the named subjects and on other themes such as "Service 2020". Bernd Hansen, Chairman of Packaging Valley Germany e.V. is quite certain that the latter also "offers great potential for new ideas based on developing or already available technologies". The next subject of the event program is a podium discussion"Industry 4.0" with the speakers and other participants.

On the second day, the conference participants have the opportunity to put together their individual tours of the member companies in Packaging Valley. During this "look behind the scenes" as described by Kurt Engel (CEO of Packaging Valley Germany), the latest developments in packaging systems will be presented and also production processes explained. The machine industry presents technologies for virtually all products such as pharmaceuticals, foods and cosmetics, whether these are in solid or liquid form. All transfers from company to company are of course organized by Packaging Valley e.V.
On the first evening of this event (10th April) a super party will be held with opportunities for further individual discussions and networking.
